Many years ago I read a book by a Feng Shui author, who wrote that it could take a decade to know if one got an accurate Feng Shui audit. Why would this author say that? This is because of that saying “Time will Tell.” Not all predictions that a Feng Shui master makes will manifest immediately. In my own practice, I know that I sometimes predict things that are years away from happening. In fact, it is almost cliché for me to hear from a client I haven’t spoken to in years, and for them to say something like, “You told me that such-and- such could happen and I didn’t believe you, and yet it DID happen!”
On the flip side, some people experience the Placebo Effect when they first interact with Feng Shui principles and so the good change they had hoped for may be quick but only fleeting and not a permanent change. This is what the author was referring to about whether one can confirm long term, sustained improvements years later.
There are different ways to track these mysterious energies and influences. Many people live in the same house for long periods so we can ultimately find out if the predictable influences manifested.
Blind case studies, intentional or not, are another way to track the veracity of Feng Shui. I love it when a person gets the benefit of Feng Shui alterations, like a skeptical spouse, when they are either unaware that changes have been made on their behalf or especially when they know, but don’t believe anything will change.
There is another type of case study which can be conducted or observed that is with the same person, but in changing environments. I have a family member who has moved thirteen times in the last eight years. Some of the stays were as brief as six weeks and the longest residential stay in this bunch was two and half years. As I watched this family member move from one home to the next, I was astonished with the text-book “bad Feng Shui” this person was dealing with.
Unfortunately, I was not in a position to help choose the places to live or make recommendations after the fact, on this family member’s behalf. This was heart breaking, knowing what I know, but not able to control the choices or outcomes. Each time the family member moved, I tried to detach myself from my awareness of the bad Feng Shui and just pray that somehow this loved one could thrive in spite of the unsupported environments. That was hardly ever the case. Instead, I saw with shocking regularity how the family member would succumb very predictably to the “sha qi” surrounding him and the untimely influences of the flying stars.
When the family member was living in places that could make him depressed, depressed he was, even suicidal. When the flying star indicated getting cut or a knife, he admitted himself into the hospital for fear of cutting himself with a sharp object. When he was living in places that indicated potential for misunderstandings, power struggles, and legal problems, he had episodes with the police and evictions.
When my loved one was in an environment indicating misdiagnosis and drug use, that too manifested immediately. When he lived in places that indicated obstacles or lack of motivation, there were long periods when his life did not progress on any level and he had no personal goals. He even spent some time in a Sober Living house which had the flying star chart for “high drama.”
For those of you reading this article, who are well-versed in the flying stars, you can assume correctly that my family member was metaphorically drowning in the flying stars 2, 3, 5, and 7. He never had the timely, more positive flying star combinations to dwell in. In fact, he even saw a ghost in one of his bedrooms with the 5-2-6 star combination!
Aside from the flying star combinations, this poor fellow was also forced at times to sleep under exposed beams or air ducts, beds aligned directly with his bedroom door or a set of stairs, in significantly dilapidated buildings, noisy areas, dark spaces, bad plumbing, aligned directly with toilets, cracked mirrors or windows, uneven floors, and a host of other bad “Form School” circumstances! Some of these buildings were also in long term “Locked Phases,” further undermining health, well-being, and financial potential.
And then, it all changed one day eight years later. By the Grace of God, he was assisted by others in moving into a house which unknown to anyone but me, had good Feng Shui! In fact, he is currently sleeping in a bedroom with the 8-8 flying stars, which are prime and “timely” right now and until 2024. The change in his life was both swift and dramatic. Positive things started to happen to him, with many benefactors to support him from DAY ONE of the move. And his attitude and sense of self-worth changed literally over night. Now, if there had not been some kind of positive shift I would have been surprised, but I was still really in awe of how dramatic the shift was, all without his knowledge that good Feng Shui influences were finally rallying around him.
And I can only pray that good Feng Shui will finally foster more good Feng Shui for the next place he moves to. Of course, I hope he stays put for a while. For those who study Feng Shui theory, we acknowledge that what happens to us in life is based on destiny, luck, environment and academic and spiritual practices. Feng Shui is only about 20% of the whole package, but sometimes it seems like more.
