Feng Shui’s kissing cousin is Nine Star Ki, a predictive art which tracks the personal energy cycles of a person. Using similar tools and fundamental metaphysical concepts as Feng Shui, the focus is with the person and not the place.

This case study, Introduction to Nine Star Ki, Part 1 was written with the Feng Shui consultant in mind, and as a way to introduce a feng shui audience to a complementary field.  There are Feng Shui consultants who also practice Chinese astrology or Chinese face reading, and Nine Star Ki is one more discipline which allows us to understand ourselves better and act when cycles are supportive. It’s the ultimate in “going with the flow.”

This “Part 1” sets the table with description of what Nine Star Ki is, a brief history and how to determine your “Year Star” based on your Year of Birth. Your Year of Month is also calculated and readers learn about their personality, strengths and interests with this form of “Nine Star Ki Astrology.” Readers also learn what kind of energy level and experiences they may have in certain years, following a predictable path.

EXCERPT:

“It was always my intention to create a case study which delved deeper into the Eight Trigrams, with more information and insight than what is normally served up in popular Feng Shui courses and books.  In many of my other advanced case studies, examples are given how the trigrams, as stars, can manifest in ways not commonly discussed by other teachers and/or in a modern context.  And yet, there is so much more to reveal.  I finally realized that there was no better way to understand the stars/trigrams than through an introduction to Nine Star Ki.

One could go another route of course, such as with studying the I-Ching.  However, Nine Star Ki is so practical and complementary to Feng Shui, that it is an easy transference from one to the other.  And yet, there are glaring differences, as you shall see.

Like Ba Zi or Zi Wei Dou Shu, (two forms of Chinese Astrology) this system of Nine Star Ki can focus on the person in a way that Feng Shui cannot.  If the emphasis in Feng Shui is on space, physical space, then the emphasis in Nine Star Ki would be on time.  The origins are the same and based on the notion that from nothing came one and then one became two, it would seem then that Feng Shui came later than Nine Star Ki or at least around the same time, but not before.

It has been referred to as the oldest form of astrology, called Chiu Kung King Li (pinyin: Jiu Xing Qi Xue). Much later, as it was developed further by the Japanese, it has been called Kyu Sei Ki Gaku.

In Nine Star Ki there are 81 year Epochs.  There are also repeating nine year cycles, nine month cycles and nine day cycles.  Even if you never study Nine Star Ki deeply, it is good for Feng Shui practitioners to familiarize themselves with the principles of Nine Star Ki, as they will absolutely influence your consciousness and approach to Feng Shui, for the better.  Nine Star Ki gives a more expansive understanding of the Nine Stars and this can only be helpful when questions remain unanswered using just the conventional Flying Star method. As well, Nine Star Ki can fill in the blanks for Feng Shui observations which may otherwise remain more vague or generalized.

For example, we might note that based on Feng Shui criteria, a person’s house has entered a Locked Phase.  How it might affect them is usually very vague until we look further into the uniqueness of their own home.  Then, we can look even further into the personal Nine Star Ki chart for the individual and see more possibilities of exactly how the Lock may affect the person. This is because it will coincide with a personal cycle for the individual.

This case study is essential reading before commencing with the Introduction to Nine Star Ki, Part 2. The Part 2 Case Study continues to explore the relationship between a person’s Year Star and Month Star to reveal parts of your personality that are both obvious and hidden to other people.  There is also another wing of Nine Star Ki, sometimes called Nine Ki Divination, which can even get into predicting world events.
