Some of my case studies are more popular than others. Not as many people purchase the Round House case study, although it is required reading for my students in my On-Line School. Why? Even though the Round House is rare, a professional feng shui consultant needs to be prepared for the more unusual circumstances in the way a doctor needs to recognize a rare disease.
Below are some excerpts from the Round House Case study:
“On a beginner’s level, we learn that the round shape makes energy swirl. This can be fine on a small scale, as with a round dining room table. For entire buildings to have a round shape, that is another story. It could be much harder to concentrate or sleep in a round house, a round room or a round hotel.”
“One definitive difference between a round building and other shapes is that the Round Building will not be as easy to define its sitting and facing sides. With no flat facing or sitting walls to work with in determining orientation, you have to determine the facing side based on the location of the entrance and/or the direction of the main views.
If there are 360 degree views, then you have to go with the entrance as facing or the most yang side by other criteria, such as the road, the parking lot, or natural features in the exterior landscape, like the ocean.”
This case study also touches on the topic of why the pie-shape sector method should be used, even by those who have learned the Nine Palace Grid method. I discuss these two methods in my Addendum. The case study also gives an example of how the pie shape sector method was used originally for grave sites, and that is still the method used today.
Round Houses may be a treat to visit as a guest and you could even feel quite stimulated by the architecture. But that is the point, since the experience of being a guest can be quite different from those who actually live in a round house. Word of caution: if you suffer from vertigo, then the Round House is definitely NOT for you!
