Unseen Feng Shui energies in your house are capable of triggering events right in the very areas where you dwell, as well as outside that location. One clear example would be an area of your house which might trigger an accident, and then you could leave your house and have an accident away from the premises.
More times than not, I get feedback from clients that certain areas of the house are flash points for arguments. And this usually correlates with the more unfavorable flying star energies associated with arguments, such as the 5 star or 7 star. These numbers are symbolic coding for energies created in a house based on when it was built. These energies may be transient also, such as annual forces which change their location from year to year.
In the New Age version of Feng Shui, no such “argument” zone exists. Many people are familiar with the template used in the New Age Feng Shui system, where there is a “wealth corner” and a “relationship” corner. There are eight symbols in that system and I write about it very infrequently because I do not give much credence to a system which does not factor in actual compass directions or timing, which is critical for a more accurate and personalized analysis. And yet, this system has such other benign areas of a house, depicted as a “Family” area and a “Helpful People” area.
When we delve deeper into traditional Feng Shui, there are two branches which can determine where in the house there may be inherent tensions and work against a couple or family trying to discuss something important and have it go successfully. The Ba Zhai or Eight Mansion School will delineate areas that can cause arguments based on the sitting orientation of a house. And much of this information is tied to an extrapolation of Five Element Theory. For example, if we have a West sitting house, that is associated with the Metal element. Rooms within a house, which are in the inherent Wood directions like east and southeast, would be potential areas for problems in communicating, among other challenges. Why? This is because Metal symbolically “chops” Wood. So there is inherent pressure in that part of the house.
Another example is a South sitting house. (Sitting terminology indicates the back side of the house, its real character.) It could be assumed that the South sitting house is one which faces North by all other Feng Shui criteria. South is inherently associated with the FIRE element. Since Fire gives strength to the Earth element, we could interpret the earth directions of a house as being draining to the occupants who live there. Inherent Earth directions are northeast and southwest.
This is just one layer in looking at a house and how the occupants may be compatible or incompatible with the house as a whole and in particular areas of the house. And thus, a pressurized area can be a hotbed for discontent.
Meanwhile, an even more precise method for determining the “argument” zones has to factor in the age of the house. In other words, the east sector of a house built in 1979 will be different than the east sector of a house built in 1935. Once these locations are determined by a skilled professional, it is amazing to get the feedback of how family arguments often break out in an area indicated by the Feng Shui energies.
What is the solution to this problem? There are two ways to act on this knowledge. One obvious solution is to simply gravitate toward the more inherently harmonious areas of a house to discuss sensitive topics. The range in topics is enormous: Want to discipline a teenager and ask for the car keys back? Want to talk about money matters? Want to discuss your sex life or lack of it as a couple? The list goes on and on. The other way to deal with the “argument” zones of a house is to use Five Element Theory to balance the qi (invisible energy).
With the right instruction, using elements like water or metal in the room can change the charged energy into something much calmer, where the influence on people can be more positive, or at least neutral. It goes without saying, but these same principles apply in a work environment as well.
