For those of you who are new to the predictive art known as Nine Star Ki, (or 9 Ki), I have a few other articles on the topic, describing it as a metaphysical art form which precedes Feng Shui. The “ki” part is the Japanese word for ch’i or qi. It is pronounced like “kee.” It comes from the foundational basis of Chinese metaphysics, embraced by Japanese culture, with further developments and discoveries made by the Japanese Nine Ki masters in the last couple of centuries.
Nine Star Ki explores the natural repeating cycles in a person’s life, with tendencies during these cycles, to the extent that we could classify it as a predictive tool for the person as well as for global events. And yet, it is really not as similar as the various forms of traditional astrology are to each other, such as comparing Western Astrology with Chinese or Vedic Astrology.
As a little “taste” of Nine Star Ki in global events, we can look at the year 2023 as a 4 Wood Star Year. It’s called the “Luo Shu Trend.” This article has been written just weeks into the 4 Star Year, but already there have been events which are symbolic to the 4 Star, as it is interpreted in Nine Ki. The 4 star in Nine Ki (not Feng Shui), is related to the air, breathing, respiratory tract, airplanes, and space craft. As well, the 4 star is related to missiles or projectiles. Already hitting the News in February, we are talking about a looming World War, Chinese spy balloons, other “UFO’s” including military brass not ruling out that the strange objects floating around the country could be UAF’s, (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon), which is the new untarnished term for UFO’s.
In the global chart for 2023, we also have the 3 star (trains) juxtaposed across from the 5 star (weird events, disasters) and we get a train derailment which causes a Chernobyl-like toxic release of chemicals into the air in Ohio. This is a combination of the 3 and 5 star influence combined with the 4 star related to breathing and the “wind” or air.
On a personal level, many of the events and circumstances which can be observed or tracked in Nine Ki pertain to adults and the typical things that adults are interested in, whether it is relationships, career, or health issues. For example, many of my Nine Star Ki clients are Baby Boomers. Health issues, even the timing for admittance to a hospital, has often line up with the Nine Star Ki monthly charts.
But what about children? Can we do a similar kind of analysis for a newborn, a child or teenager? I have had some of my initial 9 Ki clients request readings on their children or grandchildren. Sometimes there have been real concerns about their welfare when struggling with health problems, cognitive issues and other worries you can expect a loving family member to have.
Within the system of Nine Star Ki, there is a singular “number” in the calculations, which relates to the main energy influencing a person for the vast majority of their life. It is referred to as an “Adult” star and it is based on the year a person was born. But there is also a “Child” star, which is based on the month a person was born. All of these references to “stars” go back to astronomy and a time in our historical past when astronomy and astrology were practiced in a complementary way.
In theory, the Child or Month Star will have more of an influence on the person in their younger years. In fact, my 9 Star Ki teacher told me that he could see the correlations in Missing Children cases in the News when tracking the Child Star, as opposed to the Adult Star. The stars can represent elemental forces, such as water, wood or earth. Will the child be found under water, or buried under earth, or found alive locked in a wood shed? These are just a few examples where an element can symbolize something tangible that is an important clue. This occurs in Chinese Astrology as well, such as when Master Raymond Lo published an analysis on the death of Princess Diana. In her natal chart it indicated she may die “under the earth.” In a tunnel is “under the earth” (as in concrete.)
That said, it can be a bit confusing to know what is the major influence in reading the charts. We can’t just ignore the Adult Star when a person is under the age of 18. As a comparison, in Feng Shui practice, each person is identified as a certain “trigram” based on year of birth and a certain astrology sign also based on year of birth. These distinctions are effective immediately in a young person’s life, even dictating such things as best sleeping direction and best position to study in.
My mentor discouraged me from accepting the request to do analysis for children because so many of the symbols in this system relate to adult interests and opportunities. For example, in Nine Star Ki, the 7 Metal star is often related to financial transactions, banking, getting or giving a loan as one common interpretation related to money matters. How many children would have this relevant in their lives? Almost none. And so it goes with all the stars, where we can see that children are not likely to have these concerns or events take place in their young lives.
Of course, there are situations where the pairing of the stars could predict something relevant to a child. We could see where a child might be the subject of a custody dispute, separated from a parent, get hit by a car, get in trouble with the law, etc.
For newborns and small children, their lives and activities are still very much under the guidance, protection and “karma” of the parents. For a while, I did not encourage or accept 9 Ki readings for children. But then came a request for a Nine Ki “Natal” reading, as a gift from a grandma for her son’s newborn daughter. I didn’t want to refuse or disappoint, so I created a modified Nine Star Ki reading, with only the information which seems relevant for the parents to know about their child. I have left out the Monthly progressive Charts for the current year of analysis because a baby, a small child, or even a teenager is not much in control of what they do and where they go. They are not making important decisions on their own or anywhere near approximating what a day in the life of an adult includes.
I was surprised at how much joy and satisfaction I got in tailoring a mini-Nine Star Reading for my client’s newborn grand-daughter, revealing what her young personality could be like in comparison to who she might become later as an adult. Speculating on her innate talents, her constitutional health and her potential relationships with other family members was also included in the analysis.
If you think this is a type of esoteric reading you would like to have for one of your young family members, by all means contact me so we can discuss how to proceed. This is also a very useful endeavor if I am to continue studying and researching Nine Star Ki. Nothing beats real case studies to confirm and track the theories as they manifest in real lives.
