The Wood Element, the direction of East, a prince, and the eldest son in the family are all associated with the Zhen trigram. Zhen people can have outgoing personalities and the image from the Yi Jing is of Thunder. A Zhen person may have a commanding presence or even a heavy foot step, like booming thunder. Zhen is also associated with electricity. It can represent someone who is second in command, like a Vice President compared to the President.
The Zhen trigram can also be written as Chen, which is the Wade-Giles transliteration as opposed to Pin Yin. Chen as a trigram should not be confused with Chen, another word with the same spelling for the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac system.
South is the Zhen person’s best direction for attracting wealth according to the Ba Zhai School of Feng Shui, which is also referred to as Pa Chai or the East-West School. Every person can have a unique direction for them to be a magnet for wealth. This is quite different than the pop culture version of Feng Shui which designates the back left hand corner of every house as a wealth corner, and which is terribly misleading.
An alternative B+ wealth direction for the Zhen trigram person is North, which spans on the compass from 338-22 degrees. Any direction is relative to the center of a space and one must use a compass to verify the boundaries. Feng Shui masters were originally using True North as their reference point several thousand years ago, but with the invention of the compass, practitioners were then able to also track the local magnetic field, using magnetic North as their reference point.
For a Zhen trigram person, southeast is the direction which can be used to recuperate from an illness, such as sleeping with one’s head in that direction when laying down. Southeast for the Zhen person is also a direction which can make a person seem more likeable and trustworthy in the eyes of others.
The direction of East is the Zhen trigram person’s most peaceful, relaxing direction. It is a good direction for them to sleep in as well as a good meditation spot.
Zhen people can be vulnerable to problems with their feet, legs, throat, nervous system and liver. They are categorized as East type people within the East-West School.
They are those born in 1943, 1952, 1961, 1970, 1979, 1988, 1997, and perpetually repeating every nine years. The Feng Shui Solar calendar goes from February 4th-February 3rd in any given year. Occasionally the new year starts on February 5th. This time is distinct from the western calendar beginning on January 1st.
