PHOTO OF CAT IN DEEP CONTEMPLATION OVER FENG SHUI CONTROVERSIES
You’d be wrong if you thought there is only a split between classical Feng Shui and the New Age spin-off versions created in the late 20th century. This case study, Feng Shui Controversies, Part 2 covers more instances where the classical Feng Shui community has disagreements.
Houses and other buildings are built within a Period. Each Period lasts for 20 years. The case study discusses the disagreements regarding when the Period energy of a structure is established. What happens when there is a drastic remodel? What happens when an occupant moves in? What happens when the entire house is moved from one location to another?
There is also a question about whether or not we are really in Period 9 (2024-2043), due to incremental astronomical changes over thousands of years that have not been re-calibrated for the Feng Shui Periods? What are the Period cycles even based on? In fact, the Current Era Theory doesn’t require that an occupant move in or out, nor any remodeling.
EXCERPT:
“The Current Era theory is based on the assumption that all houses will take on the current Period chart for their orientation, regardless of whether occupants are moving in or out.
Here is an example that would be supported by a practitioner using this reasoning: Occupant goes to sleep on February 3rd, 2004 and when they wake up on February 4th, their home has switched from a Period 7 house to a Period 8 house, with the changing of the Period on the planet and no influence by the occupant nor the original construction chart.
Now, my interpretation of this theory is that it has simply been taken too far. All classical Feng Shui practitioners will agree that the current Era or Period can be factored into an analysis. It can be seen as another layer. But to ignore the original construction cycle chart for the house would be a huge mistake, based on my experience.
I have come in as a second opinion a number of times after one local practitioner. Her recommendations never make sense to me until I remember to fly the stars for the current Period, regardless of when the house was built. People are calling me in because they have not gotten results relating to their house based on the current Era alone.
As just one example in my practicing Feng Shui since 1992, I have had many clients living in a Period 4 house. They may have moved into the Period 4 house in Period 7 or Period 8, with many other occupants before them. And yet, they are experiencing the Period 4 Flying Star chart for the house, like clock-work. I have countless other examples of the original Construction Period Chart being the major influence in stunningly accurate ways.”
Another Controversy included in this case study is the infamous Southern Hemisphere theory. Do we change fundamental feng shui theories to accommodate the switch in seasons? Not even all practitioners Down Under are convinced.
